Synopsis

A Dance with Dragons, the fifth novel in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, runs alongside A Feast for Crows and continues from A Storm of Swords, following different characters across Westeros and Essos in the year 300 after Aegon's Conquest. Jon Snow, named Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, must decide how to respond to wildlings pressing against the Wall as creatures called the Others stir beyond it, while his brother Bran Stark travels past the Wall seeking mystical knowledge. Tyrion Lannister, a fugitive after events in King's Landing, is smuggled overseas and drawn into a plot involving a claimant to House Targaryen's throne, while in Meereen, Daenerys Targaryen struggles to govern amid unrest and dragons no longer easy to control.
