Synopsis

A Feast for Crows, the fourth novel in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, picks up after A Storm of Swords, in the wake of the Seven Kingdoms' War of the Five Kings, with two claimants, Robb Stark and Balon Greyjoy, dead and the boy king Tommen ruling under his mother Cersei's regency. The novel runs alongside A Dance with Dragons and shifts to southern Westeros, following House Lannister's Cersei and her brother Jaime, the knight Brienne of Tarth, and the Stark daughters Sansa and Arya. Brienne searches the Riverlands for any trace of the missing Stark girls, Sansa hides under a false identity in the Vale, the Iron Islands descend into a succession crisis, House Tyrell navigates its fall from royal favor, and Dorne weighs its own path forward, while Arya begins a new life in Braavos.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
