Synopsis

The first book in the Norse-inspired Saga of the Unfated duology follows Freya, a shield maiden blessed by the gods with unusual power, who dreams of becoming a warrior in her own right but is instead bound in an unwanted political marriage to secure her family's position. When her husband betrays her in a way that leaves her fighting simply to survive, Freya is thrust into a much larger struggle to unite a fractured nation under a power-hungry king who has his own designs on the magic she carries. Forced to rely on abilities she has never been permitted to use openly, Freya must navigate a dangerous new alliance and decide how far she is willing to go to secure both her own survival and a future for her people.
