Synopsis
A Heart Divided brings the Condor Heroes story toward its resolution as Guo Jing, now an accomplished warrior torn between his Mongolian upbringing and his ancestral loyalty to the Song, becomes further entangled in the military campaigns of Genghis Khan's forces. Huang Rong remains at his side as the pair navigate escalating political stakes between Mongolia, the Jin, and the Song empire, even as misunderstandings and old rivalries continue to test their relationship. Yang Kang's estrangement from his birth family and his allegiance to the Jin court, established earlier in the story, comes to a head, creating further conflict for Guo Jing. Across the book's final stretch, Guo Jing must weigh the loyalty he owes the Mongol leaders who raised him against his growing sense of duty toward his homeland, a tension that shapes the choices he and Huang Rong face together.

Notes
- From the series record (Legends of the Condor Heroes (English translation)): Core Canon: the four-volume English translation (MacLehose Press, translated by Anna Holmwood, Gigi Chang, and Shelly Bryant) of the wuxia novel Jin Yong originally serialized in Hong Kong Commercial Daily from 1957-1959. This is the first novel of the wider Condor Trilogy; its two sequels (The Return of the Condor Heroes, The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber) are a separate continuity not yet catalogued and are a future candidate on their own merits.
