Synopsis
The first book in The Age of Madness trilogy is set thirty years after Last Argument of Kings, amid an industrial revolution reshaping the Union as factories rise over the city of Adua and class tensions simmer beneath the elite's pursuit of power and profit. The story follows a new generation of characters, including Savine dan Glokta, who leverages her intelligence and ruthlessness to climb the ranks of business and society; Leo dan Brock, who fights on Angland's borders seeking battlefield glory and royal support against the forces of Stour Nightfall; Rikke, who possesses the mystical Long Eye and struggles to control the visions it grants her; and Crown Prince Orso, as political ambition, social upheaval, and old rivalries collide across the changing Union.
