Synopsis
The second novel in Joe Abercrombie's Age of Madness trilogy, set some time after A Little Hatred, follows multiple characters navigating a fragile peace that threatens to collapse. Savine dan Glokta works to rebuild her power and ambitions despite her ruined reputation, warriors like Leo dan Brock and Stour Nightfall struggle to adjust to peacetime after years of fighting, and Rikke must learn to control her mystical Long Eye ability as the visions it grants her grow harder to manage. Behind the scenes, a revolutionary faction called the Breakers works to upend the old order and stir unrest among the common people, while the nobility scheme for advantage, each maneuver threatening to unravel the uneasy peace that followed the previous book's conflicts.
