Synopsis
Rhis is sixteen and the princess of Nym, a tiny, poor kingdom whose royal family barely keeps up appearances. She is invited, along with princesses from many realms, to the coming-of-age celebrations of Prince Lios, heir to the large and wealthy kingdom of Vesarja. At the palace Rhis befriends several of the other girls and begins to fall for Lios, but his attention turns to Iardith, the most admired princess of all. When Iardith is abducted, Rhis and her new friends decide to go after her rather than wait for rescue. A crowd of princes follows them. The journey tests the princesses' loyalties, exposes the politics behind the royal courts, and changes how the young women and men regard one another.
