Synopsis
Velasin vin Aaro never planned to marry. When his attraction to men is exposed during an ugly confrontation, the diplomatic marriage arranged between him and a woman from neighbouring Tithena falls into doubt. The Tithenai envoy offers an alternative: Velasin may marry his former intended's brother, Caethari Aeduria, instead. Cae, a Tithenai who expected a political marriage, is shocked to be betrothed to a man from Ralia, where such relationships are forbidden. An unknown faction is willing to kill to stop the new alliance, so the two men must rely on each other. The novel is a romantic fantasy with Byzantine-style politics.
