Synopsis
A prince of the Azteques is found dead on a stone altar atop a pyramid in New England, his heart removed. Lord Darcy and the forensic sorcerer Sean O Lochlainn cross the Atlantic to the colony around Nova Eboracum to find the killer and to learn whether the Azteques are returning to human sacrifice. If the case drags on, relations between the Anglo-French Empire and the Azteques could suffer, and Darcy must also consider whether the rival Polish Empire is trying to upset the balance of power. Lady Irene Eagleson, a young double agent, also figures in the case.
