Synopsis
In a kingdom where women may not read and magic is punishable by death, fourteen-year-old Brystal Evergreen secretly discovers that she can perform magic. Arrested and sent to a correctional facility, she is rescued by Madame Weatherberry, who has won the king's permission to open a school of magic. There Brystal and a group of outcast students learn their craft, until the secret behind their teacher's absences puts all of them in danger.
