Synopsis

A Tangled Web, set in the Five Hundred Kingdoms and drawing on the Greek myth of Persephone's abduction, follows Prince Leopold as he attempts to kidnap the goddess Persephone to make her his bride, only to seize the wrong blonde goddess by mistake. Left without the wife he intended and having offended powers he cannot easily appease, Leopold must venture into the realm of the dead to track down and retrieve the correct bride before the consequences of his error catch up with him. True to the pattern the series has established, the Tradition ensures that even a scheme built on Greek mythology in the Five Hundred Kingdoms refuses to go according to plan, complicating Leopold's errand at every turn.

Notes

  • From the series record (Tales of the Five Hundred Kingdoms): A completed 7-book sequence of standalone fairy-tale-retelling novels sharing one meta-fictional secondary world ("The Tradition", a narrative-causality force that pushes real lives toward familiar fairy-tale shapes), published 2004-2012 by Luna/Harlequin.
