Synopsis
Girton Club-foot, apprenticed to the best assassin in the land, is trained in the art of taking lives -- but his newest assignment requires him to save one instead. Someone is trying to murder the heir to the throne, and in a kingdom teetering on civil war and a castle thick with lies, Girton must uncover the traitor before the prince is killed. Working alongside his master, Merela Karn, Girton must move through a court riddled with rival claimants and old grudges, using skills meant for killing to instead protect a boy he does not even particularly like, all while keeping his own identity and methods hidden from those who would see an assassin's apprentice hanged on sight.
