Synopsis

Alcatraz Versus the Scrivener's Bones sends Alcatraz Smedry into the Library of Alexandria, a vast and magically dangerous library under the control of the Evil Librarians, where his father and grandfather are being held by the Curators, beings who demand souls in exchange for the books they guard. Separated early on from his usual companions, including the knight Bastille and her mother Draulin, his lost-prone uncle Kazan, and his cousin Australia, Alcatraz must rely increasingly on his own resourcefulness and on special Oculators' Lenses to navigate the library's traps and soul-stealing hazards largely alone, with only a talking dinosaur for unreliable company.

Notes

  • From the series record (Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians): A middle-grade comic-fantasy series about a boy who can deliberately break things, opposing a secret cabal of librarians who suppress fantastical 'Silimatic' technology hidden across the real world. Books 1-5 solely authored by Brandon Sanderson (already known for the Cosmere and the Wheel of Time). No true connection to either of those universes -- a wholly separate, standalone continuity.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
