Synopsis
The seventh Southern Vampire Mysteries novel opens with Sookie visiting the vampire bar Fangtasia to discuss serious accusations against Queen Sophie-Anne with Eric Northman and his circle. Sophie-Anne stands accused of murdering the King of Arkansas, a charge pressed by his chief representative Jennifer Cater, and her already weakened political position, damaged further by Hurricane Katrina's destruction of New Orleans, leaves her vulnerable heading into a major vampire summit drawing power players from across the central United States. The queen recruits Sookie, along with a second telepath named Barry "Bellboy" Horowitz, to secretly monitor the thoughts of human attendees at the gathering, hoping to uncover evidence and enemies alike.
