Synopsis

The fourth book in B.B. Alston's Supernatural Investigations series finds Amari Peters facing a pivotal choice between retiring from the Bureau of Supernatural Affairs to pursue a competitive swimming opportunity, or continuing her work in the supernatural world, a decision complicated by the fact that retiring would mean having her memories of the Bureau erased and potentially losing her closest friendships. Her plans are upended when a mysterious plague begins transforming supernaturals into metallic beings, and her best friend Jayden becomes its latest victim just as she is weighing whether to walk away. Alongside her friend Lara, who is pursuing Junior Special Agent status, Amari takes on a case that has stumped the Bureau's most experienced agents, searching for clues tied to the elusive First Magician while trying to save Jayden before the plague spreads further.
