Synopsis

The third and concluding novel of the Simon Snow trilogy brings Simon, Baz, Penelope and Agatha back to England and to Watford after the events of Wayward Son. Simon, uncertain of his place in the World of Mages after losing his former power, must decide whether he still belongs there and what that means for his relationship with Baz. Baz is pulled into a family emergency while continuing to come to terms with his identity as a vampire. Penelope is preoccupied with smuggling an American acquaintance into London, and Agatha, distanced from the group since the first book, reaches a personal turning point of her own. The novel follows each of these threads as the friends confront unresolved questions from earlier in the trilogy.

Notes

  • From the series record (Simon Snow Trilogy): Complete trilogy following Simon Snow, the least powerful wizard-Chosen One in the world of "the Chosen One" fantasy novels-within-the-novel that a teenage Rainbow Rowell character was obsessed with in Rowell's earlier, unrelated novel Fangirl (2013); Rowell then wrote the trilogy in earnest as its own complete story, not a continuation of Fangirl and not required reading to follow it.
