Synopsis
Picking up directly after Arrows of the Queen, this second volume follows Talia as she completes her internship and formally becomes the Queen's Own Herald, the trusted counselor and confidante of the reigning Queen of Valdemar. Still young and inexperienced in the ways of the royal court, Talia must learn to navigate the political maneuvering of nobles and courtiers while continuing to develop her own Gifts alongside her Companion, Rolan. Sent out on circuit to gain practical experience serving the kingdom's outlying territories, she also faces personal danger from those who resent or fear her closeness to the throne. As Talia grows into her role, she becomes increasingly entangled in schemes aimed at the royal family, forcing her to draw on both her training and her still-developing abilities to protect the crown she serves.
