Synopsis
Bastion is the concluding volume of the Collegium Chronicles, bringing Mags's coming-of-age story and its conspiracies to a close. Mags returns to the Collegium, but his presence unsettles both him and the school's leadership, who fear that the dangers following him could put the heart of Valdemar at risk. To get answers, Mags sets out with a group of companions, including fellow Heralds Jadrek and Kylan along with his friends Bear, Lena and Amily, toward the Bastion, an abandoned hideout in the hills that was once the stronghold of the raiders who had held Mags and his parents captive years earlier. Investigating this forsaken site in search of long-buried answers, the group finds that conditions there are not at all what any of them expected, setting up the final stretch of Mags's journey from captive orphan to Herald.
