Synopsis

Being a Green Mother follows Orb Kaftan, a musically gifted young woman whose magic is channeled through singing and playing instruments. Restless and searching for purpose, Orb sets out on a quest for the Llano, a legendary piece of music said to be the most potent magic known, traveling far from home and encountering a range of mystical challenges along the way. During her travels she meets and grows close to a fellow musician named Natasha, and becomes entangled with a mysterious figure whose true identity is not what it first appears. Her journey eventually leads her to assume the office of Gaea, the Incarnation of Nature, a role that comes with vast power over the living world and draws her further into the ongoing contest between the other Incarnations and the forces of Satan and Evil.

Notes

  • From the series record (Incarnations of Immortality): The original seven-book run, one novel per Incarnation (Death, Time, Fate, War, Nature, Evil, Good), published together as a complete cycle 1983-1990.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
