Synopsis
Beren and Luthien is a 2017 book edited by Christopher Tolkien, drawing together the various prose and verse versions of one of J.R.R. Tolkien's earliest tales of Middle-earth: the story of the mortal Man Beren and the immortal Elf-maiden Luthien, and their quest against the Dark Lord Morgoth. It presents the evolving drafts as a continuous narrative rather than a single finished text, and is illustrated by Alan Lee.
