Synopsis
The Fall of Gondolin is a 2018 book edited by Christopher Tolkien, compiling the different versions his father wrote of the tale of the hidden Elven city of Gondolin, founded by King Turgon and eventually betrayed and destroyed. First conceived in 1917, it was the last of Tolkien's three "Great Tales" of the Elder Days to be published as its own standalone volume, illustrated by Alan Lee.
