Synopsis
Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil is a 2025 LGBTQ dark fantasy novel that intertwines the lives of three lesbian vampires across different eras: María, turned in sixteenth-century Santo Domingo; a second woman navigating the drawing rooms and dangers of nineteenth-century London; and Alice, a present-day college student in Boston whose one-night stand ends in violence and leaves her irrevocably changed. As the narrative moves between these three timelines, it traces how each woman comes to terms with an unnatural hunger and a form of immortality she never asked for, and how the choices made by the earliest of them continue to ripple forward into the lives of the others centuries later. The novel builds toward the moment when Alice's own story intersects directly with the deep history the other two have been living all along.
