Synopsis
Yadriel is a transgender Latino brujo whose family refuses to recognize his gender and expects him to train in healing rather than in the summoning magic he insists he can perform. Determined to prove himself before the Dia de los Muertos festivities, he sets out, with help from his cousin and best friend Maritza, to summon the ghost of his missing cousin Miguel as proof of his abilities. The ritual goes wrong: instead of Miguel, he calls forth Julian Diaz, a classmate who has no memory of how he died and has no intention of moving on to the afterlife. Bound together until Julian's spirit can be released, the two must work out what happened to him, forcing Yadriel to balance this unexpected partnership against his need to be seen and accepted by his own family.
