Synopsis

Chess Putnam, a magic-wielding Churchwitch and secret addict, uncovers a black-magic scheme that has tainted Downside's drug supply. Users are losing their souls and committing brutal murders. Chess must stop the spreading death-magic and a looming war between the two men in her life, and doing so may cost her own life. The novel is the fifth in Stacia Kane's Downside Ghosts series, published by Del Rey as a mass market paperback of about 384 pages in July 2012. It is set in the same dark urban fantasy world in which the dead have risen and the Church of Real Truth controls the response.
