Synopsis

Chess Putnam is a witch who must use her powers to solve a grisly dark-magic murder for a crime boss who is also her drug dealer. Her side job as a ghost hunter for the Church of Real Truth leads her to a haunting at a school in Downside, where someone is learning to summon the dead. The book's tagline is Reading, Writing, and Raising the Dead. It is the fourth novel in Stacia Kane's Downside Ghosts urban fantasy series, published by Del Rey as a mass market paperback of about 416 pages in April 2012, with the usual mix of occult investigation and personal danger that marks the series.
