Synopsis

Coinspinner, the Sword of Chance, follows only its own unknown rules. Crown Prince Murat of Culm asks Princess Kristin of Tasavalta to lend him Woundhealer, the Sword of Healing, but she refuses. Soon afterward Woundhealer is stolen from the White Temple, and General Rostov sets out to recover it, only to find that the Sword is not with the prince and that Coinspinner has gone missing too. Elsewhere, the young Prince Adrian approaches a treacherous City of Wizards, and the Macrowizard Wood, who has escaped the bonds of time, plans to abduct him and wants Coinspinner for himself.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
