Synopsis
Come Tumbling Down brings back several established characters from earlier in the series, including the Wolcott twins and Nancy Whitman, for a new adventure that returns to the gothic world of the Moors first explored in Down Among the Sticks and Bones. When a crisis tied to that world's own particular rules disrupts the balance one of the twins has built there, the returning students at Eleanor West's school are pulled back through the door to help, testing how much of themselves they left behind and how much still belongs to a world they once called home. The novella continues the series' focus on the lasting pull specific magical worlds hold over the children who found them.

- From the series record (Wayward Children): Core Canon = all 11 published novellas (Tor.com/Tordotcom, 2016-2026), per the collection/short-form-as-Core precedent (this series' primary reading unit has always been the novella, not the novel). Book 12, "A Song of Sugar Sparrows" (planned January 2027), is announced but unpublished as of 2026-08-11 -- isn't counted here yet; watch for its publication.
