Synopsis
Across the Green Grass Fields follows Regan, a girl whose ordinary suburban life is upended when she discovers a doorway into a lush, unfamiliar land populated by centaurs, unicorns, and other creatures drawn from the world of horses and equine myth. Unlike many of the school's other students, Regan arrives in her new world following a personal crisis at home that had already left her questioning where, if anywhere, she truly belonged. As she is drawn into the customs and society of this new land and its inhabitants, Regan must find her own place among creatures whose rules and expectations differ sharply from anything in the human world she left behind.

Notes
- From the series record (Wayward Children): Core Canon = all 11 published novellas (Tor.com/Tordotcom, 2016-2026), per the collection/short-form-as-Core precedent (this series' primary reading unit has always been the novella, not the novel). Book 12, "A Song of Sugar Sparrows" (planned January 2027), is announced but unpublished as of 2026-08-11 -- isn't counted here yet; watch for its publication.
