Synopsis
Cathan has taken refuge in a Thetian library to escape persecution by the fire-worshipping Domain, and he and Ravenna are in hiding. Political upheaval threatens his sanctuary: the Domain's candidate now sits on the Imperial throne, and its Venatic monks control the navy and the crowds, turning their enemies into penitents with no rights. When Cathan and Ravenna try to escape, they find that the fire-priests are not the only fanatics they face. The Domain, the heretical academies and the political leaders of Aquasilva all hunt them. The third book concludes the story of religious oppression begun in Heresy and continued in Inquisition.
