Synopsis

Cry Silver Bells, published by Thomas Burnett Swann in 1977, concludes the Minotaur Trilogy and is set earliest in the sequence's internal chronology, generations before the events of the other two books. Hora, a courtesan, and her cousin Lordan, a thief, are banished from human civilization and cast into the dreaded Country of the Beasts as punishment for their crimes. Rather than perishing there as intended, the pair gradually befriend the mythical creatures who call the hidden realm home, and Hora finds herself drawn to Silver Bells, an earlier Minotaur of the same lineage that will one day produce Eunostos. As Hora and Lordan adjust to exile among centaurs, dryads, and other beings unknown to the outside world, their fates become increasingly bound to the Country of the Beasts and the creatures who first took them in.
