Synopsis

The Forest of Forever, published by Thomas Burnett Swann in 1971, is the second volume of the Minotaur Trilogy, set a generation before Day of the Minotaur. Eunostos, the last Minotaur, lives in the hidden Country of the Beasts among centaurs, dryads, and other creatures unknown to the human world beyond its borders. He falls in love with Kora, a young dryad, and eventually works up the courage to propose marriage to her, only to find his feelings are not returned in kind: Kora's heart belongs instead to Aeacus, a mortal prince of Minoan Crete who has found his way into their hidden realm. Eunostos is left to reckon with his unrequited love even as Kora and Aeacus's own relationship, forbidden by the ordinary boundaries between the human and mythical worlds, begins to take shape around him.
