Synopsis
Set in 1920s England, Cuckoo Song follows eleven-year-old Triss, who wakes after a mysterious accident with a deep, unshakeable sense that something is wrong with her. She feels insatiably, unnaturally hungry, her younger sister Pen seems frightened rather than relieved to see her recovering, and her parents exchange anxious whispers behind closed doors whenever they think she cannot hear. Piecing together scattered, contradictory fragments of her missing memory of the accident, Triss slowly begins to suspect that she may not be the same girl who vanished, and that the gaps in her recollection are hiding something her family is too afraid to say aloud, sending her toward a truth about her own identity that reaches back into the fabric of the world around her home.
