Synopsis

Dead Country opens a new arc of the Craft Sequence, following the earlier Core novels. Tara Abernathy, who left her hometown years before in disgrace and has since resurrected gods, defeated monsters, averted wars, and saved a city more than once, returns home to bury her father. The journey back forces her to confront the community and the version of herself she left behind. Along the way she rescues a young girl who is as powerful, vulnerable, and lost as Tara once was, saving her from raiders whose violence is a lingering scar of the earlier God Wars. This act of rescue sets in motion a chain of events that will reach far beyond the quiet town where the story begins, reshaping Tara's path and drawing her back into the wider conflicts of the Craft world she thought she had left behind.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Craft Sequence): The first six novels are each independently standalone within one shared world rather than a single strict reading order (the author's own note); the final three, marketed as 'The Craft Wars', form a direct continuation that does run forward in time book to book. All nine are treated as one Core Canon sequence per this project's usual practice for a single author's continuous secondary-world project.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
