Synopsis

In a Britain ruled by the New Management, where magic and superpowers have gone mainstream, the plutocrat Rupert Bigge, secretly the high priest of an elder god, wants a lost book that grants its owner occult power. His executive assistant Evelyn Starkey is ordered to get it by any means, and recruits her younger brother Imp and his gang of small-time crooks, which draws the attention of Wendy Deere, a corporate thief-taker. The hunt runs through Everyman's London and, by an extradimensional passage, into past and mythical versions of the city. Loosely built on Peter Pan, the novel opens a separate trilogy set in the same world as the Laundry books.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
