Synopsis
Set on New Year's Eve, three weeks after the events of Club Dead, the fourth Southern Vampire Mysteries novel begins when Sookie finds vampire Eric Northman running dazed and injured near her home, having lost all memory of who he is. She takes the amnesiac Eric in, while his second-in-command Pam explains the strange circumstances and Sookie's brother Jason gets drawn into negotiating financial matters connected to Eric's situation. Pam believes a coven of witches, some of whom are also werewolves, newly arrived in Shreveport, is responsible for erasing Eric's memory as part of a scheme to extort money from him and seize control of his territory, and the coven is actively hunting for him while he remains vulnerable in Sookie's care.
