Synopsis
Deadhouse Gates is the second novel in Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series. It follows several interconnected storylines across a fantasy continent thrown into upheaval, as the Malazan Empire faces a massive uprising in the Seven Cities subcontinent led by the prophesied Sha'ik. The rebellion forces the legendary one-armed commander Coltaine to lead tens of thousands of Malazan refugees and soldiers on a harrowing, fighting retreat across hundreds of miles of hostile desert terrain, an ordeal that becomes known as the Chain of Dogs, while other Malazan agents pursue their own separate missions amid the growing chaos of the rebellion.
