Synopsis
Deep Wizardry, second novel in the Young Wizards series, picks up with Kit and Nita vacationing on Long Island's South Shore, where they come to the aid of a wounded humpback whale named S'reee, who reveals herself to be a wizard in her own right. Through S'reee, the two human wizards are drawn into the hidden world of undersea wizardry and its distinct traditions, learning of an ancient and perilous ceremony called the Song of the Twelve, performed periodically to renew a pact that keeps a great destructive force bound beneath the ocean. Nita and Kit find themselves recruited to take part in the ceremony's preparations alongside S'reee and other sea creatures who share the gift of wizardry, adapting their land-based magic to the unfamiliar demands of the underwater world.
