Synopsis
Grandmother's coffee grinder, a gift from her grandsons Kasperl and Seppel that plays her favourite tune, is stolen by the robber Hotzenplotz. The two boys set out to trap him with a trail of sand, but the robber catches them one after the other. Hotzenplotz sells Kasperl to the wizard Petrosilius Zwackelmann while Seppel is made to work for the robber. In the wizard's castle Kasperl meets a fairy, Amaryllis, who has been turned into a toad, and he sets out to find a magic herb that can free her. The story is told as a Kasperl puppet-theatre tale with a comic policeman, Wachtmeister Dimpfelmoser, on the robber's trail.
