Synopsis

Dreamhunter is set in a world resembling our own but bordering a mysterious, otherwise inaccessible land known only as the Place, which can be entered solely by a small number of gifted people called dreamhunters, who venture inside to capture dreams and bring them back to share with the public in grand performance halls. The novel follows fifteen-year-old cousins Laura Hame and Rose Tiebold, both from families deeply connected to the dreamhunting trade, as they come of age and undergo the ritual crossing meant to reveal whether they too possess the gift. When Laura discovers her own ability while her father, a renowned dreamhunter, mysteriously vanishes, she begins investigating his disappearance, uncovering troubling signs that not everything about the dreamhunting establishment and its uses of the Place is as benevolent as it appears.

  • From the series record (Dreamhunter Duet): Complete two-book duology set in an alternate Edwardian-era New Zealand ('Southland'), where certain gifted people can enter 'the Place', an other-dimensional realm, and capture dreams to perform for audiences at the Rainbow Opera.
