Synopsis

Dreamquake continues directly from Dreamhunter, following Laura Hame as she pursues the investigation into her father's disappearance and the darker uses to which the mysterious Place, and the dreams drawn from it, are being put by powerful figures within her world's government and dreamhunting establishment. Now aware of her own gift and increasingly convinced that the authorities are complicit in troubling practices tied to the Place, Laura must act carefully, balancing her family's reputation and safety against the moral urgency of what she has uncovered. Her cousin Rose and other allies become entangled in the widening consequences of Laura's efforts as the sequel deepens the first novel's blend of coming-of-age drama and unsettling speculative mystery, building toward the resolution of the questions left open about the Place's true nature and the uses of dream-hunting within their society.
