Synopsis
Two years after the events of the first novella, Henry Silver has taken on Tobias's former role as the Wild Man of the Woods, while Tobias himself now works for Silver's formidable mother. Their settled routine is interrupted when a letter arrives describing a woman who has been kidnapped into Fairyland, prompting the two men to set out together to find and rescue her. Their search leads them into Fairyland itself, where they discover the woman has already freed herself through her own resourcefulness and shares their fascination with the strange realm they have entered. The reunion forces both Silver and Tobias to reckon with how their roles, and their relationship, have shifted since the wood's earlier dangers were laid to rest.
