Synopsis
Promoted to take over the projects of his late boss James Angleton, Bob Howard inherits responsibility for the wards that seal off magical sites outside the United Kingdom, which sends him to Tokyo on a liaison mission with the Miyamoto Group, Japan's equivalent of the Laundry. Partnered with Dr Yoko Suzuki of the group's department of apocryphal organisms, he is nominally there to police minor yokai, the Japanese spirits growing more active as the stars come right. The real reason he has been brought in is far worse: a hellmouth beneath a theme park and a terrifying version of a famous cartoon character. The story explains why Bob is absent from Britain during the events of The Nightmare Stacks.
