Synopsis

The greatest city in Maztica lies in ruins as a plague of hideous monsters descends across the land. From the ashes a tenuous alliance forms, and legionnaires and native warriors fight side by side, desperate to stem the onslaught of chaos. Their only hope lies beyond Faerûn, in the prophecy given to Erixitl of Palul: that Quotal, the immortal Plumed Serpent, will return to Maztica for a final battle against the forces of evil. But the Feathered Dragon may already be too late. The climax of Douglas Niles's Maztica trilogy.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.

  • Publication order, within the series Maztica Trilogy: position 3 of 3: previous Viperhand (1990)
  • Internal chronology, within Forgotten Realms: position 140 of 215: previous Vanity's Brood (2006) · next The Crystal Mountain (2009)
