Synopsis
Fevered Star opens with the great city of Tova reeling in the aftermath of the eclipse that closed Black Sun, its old order shattered and its future uncertain as a comet said to mark the death of a ruler and the rise of a new one approaches. Sea captain Xiala finds herself caught up in the city's upheaval and forms an uneasy partnership with the former Priest of Knives as she tries to find her footing in the changed city. The Matrons of Tova's ruling clans must navigate tense and shifting alliances as rival factions and outside powers move to take advantage of the power vacuum. At the center of it all, Serapio and Naranpa, now living avatars of opposing gods, each struggle to hold on to their sense of self as prophecy, ambition, and the demands of those around them pull them toward destinies neither fully controls.
