Synopsis
In the Other World, the immortal Kalona seems to have been forgotten, or may never have existed. Other Neferet has left her House of Night but still wants immortality and power, and she is secretly looking for a way to reach Old Magick. Meanwhile the new High Priestess, Anastasia Langford, works for peace between humans and vampyres, though some vampyres prefer power to acceptance. Zoey wants to stop Neferet but is warned that calling on Old Magick too often is dangerous. She turns to organizing the first human-vampyre swim meet in Tulsa, where things keep going wrong.
