P. C. Cast (Phyllis Christine Cast) was born on 30 April 1960 in Watseka, Illinois, and lives in Oregon. She is an American author of romance and fantasy who previously taught English at South Intermediate High School in Broken Arrow, near Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her Divine (Partholon) series began in 2001 with Goddess by Mistake, published by Hawk Publishing, about a high school English teacher who swaps places with a priestess of a parallel world. That book won the Prism, Holt Medallion and Laurel Wreath awards. Her separate Goddess series runs from Goddess of the Sea (2003) to Goddess of Legend (2010). From 2005 she wrote the House of Night series with her daughter Kristin Cast, who also edits her work. The idea came from her agent, who suggested a vampire finishing school. Hunted (2009) debuted at number one on the USA Today and Wall Street Journal lists, and Davis Films acquired the series film rights in 2011.
