Synopsis
Foxmask is the second and final novel in Juliet Marillier's Saga of the Light Isles, following Wolfskin. It centers on Thorvald, who sets out in search of the father he has never known, accompanied by his friend Creidhe and a fisherman named Sam. Their journey by sea leads them toward a hidden island community shaped by its own secrets and customs, and Thorvald's personal search becomes entangled with a larger, mysterious conflict that reaches beyond his own family history. The novel follows Thorvald and Creidhe as they are drawn deeper into the unfamiliar community and the dangers it conceals. First published in 2004, Foxmask belongs to the Saga of the Light Isles series.

- Series: Saga of the Light Isles core; position 2 of 2 in the series' recorded order
- Author: Juliet Marillier
Notes
- From the series record (Saga of the Light Isles): Set in the Norse-settlement-era Orkney Islands ('the Light Isles') -- a closed 2-book set with no further entries planned, registered `duology` per the enum's 2026-08-07 addition. Independently verified as a distinct setting/era/cast from the Bridei Chronicles (this same batch) rather than assumed connected merely because both are early-medieval-Britain-adjacent Marillier settings.
