Synopsis
Wolfskin is the first novel in Juliet Marillier's Saga of the Light Isles, a historical fantasy set in the early Viking age. It follows Eyvind, a young Norse warrior bound to the harsh warrior code of the wolfskins, as he joins a voyage of discovery that brings him to the Light Isles, the Norse name for Orkney. There he meets Nessa, a Pictish priestess, and becomes caught up in the collision between the incoming Norse settlers and the islands' native people, with their differing faiths and loyalties. As Eyvind grows close to Nessa, tension builds with his blood brother Somerled, whose true character begins to show itself and puts Eyvind's own sense of honor and loyalty to the test.

Notes
- From the series record (Saga of the Light Isles): Set in the Norse-settlement-era Orkney Islands ('the Light Isles') -- a closed 2-book set with no further entries planned, registered `duology` per the enum's 2026-08-07 addition. Independently verified as a distinct setting/era/cast from the Bridei Chronicles (this same batch) rather than assumed connected merely because both are early-medieval-Britain-adjacent Marillier settings.
