Synopsis
Godslayer concludes the two-volume Sundering duology begun in Banewreaker, continuing the story of Urulat's war against Satoris, the fallen god whose followers were the sympathetic focus of the first book. As the quest against Satoris pressed by the ostensibly heroic alliance moves toward its climax, the novel keeps its perspective fixed on the side traditionally coded as villainous, deepening the tragic frame established in the opening volume rather than shifting back to a conventional hero's viewpoint. The duology as a whole is conceived by author Jacqueline Carey as one long tragedy told from the losing side, and Godslayer carries that arc forward, following Satoris's allies as the consequences of the first book's events close in around them.
