Synopsis
Gryphon in Glory continues the story of Joisan and Kerovan from The Crystal Gryphon. Joisan leaves the relative safety of her people to follow her husband Kerovan after he departs on a mission, traveling through a war-torn Dales landscape in the company of the mercenaries Jervon and Elys. Kerovan, meanwhile, ventures into the Waste in search of answers about his own uncertain heritage, joining forces with Herrel, a shape-shifting Were-Rider. Their separate journeys converge after Joisan is captured by the subterranean Thas and escapes to the abandoned keep of Carfallin, where she finds unexpected allies among its sentient cats. Reunited, Kerovan and Joisan face a string of supernatural threats and illusions tied to the keep's past, leading toward a confrontation with an ancient, slumbering power and the being that has been manipulating events from the shadows.
Where it sits

- Series: Witch World: High Hallack Cycle ; position 7 of 11 in the series' recorded order
- Author: Andre Norton
Notes
- From the series record (Witch World: High Hallack Cycle): A separate High Hallack sub-continuity within the wider Witch World setting, solely written by Andre Norton (Core Canon, the Estcarp Cycle, is unaffected). 2 later titles co-written by other hands (Songsmith 1992 w/ A.C. Crispin, Silver May Tarnish 2005 w/ Lyn McConchie) are deliberately excluded per this project's credited-authorship bright line (Darkover/Pern precedent); The Gates to Witch World (1994) is an omnibus of already-counted novels, not new content.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
